A double cab bakkie often does everything: school runs during the week, site visits, and weekend trips with a canopy and roof rack. Its extra rear doors and long sides change how a wrap is planned compared with a single cab.
This page is for owners who want a new colour, a blacked-out look or business branding on a double cab. All work is carried out at our Rivonia workshop in Sandton.
About this service
Compared with a single cab, a double cab has two extra doors, a B-pillar and a shorter load bin. The rear doors create additional door edges and gaps that need clean finishing, and the long side runs from the front wing to the tailgate mean graphics and stripes have to be planned so they line up across four door gaps and the bin. Door handles, rear quarter windows and step rails are removed or worked around as needed.
As with any bakkie, the inside of the load bin and the bin floor are not wrapped. A smooth, painted canopy can often be included, and roof racks, sports bars and side steps are assessed one by one. Textured plastic wheel arch flares and cladding usually stay as they are, which many owners use as a deliberate contrast.
Double cabs used off road get bush scratches and stone strikes. Vinyl gives only light protection from minor abrasion, and branches can still scratch or tear it. Paint protection film is a separate, thicker product for impact-prone areas. Results depend on paint condition, the film, installation and care.

Why choose it
- A complete colour or finish change for a large, versatile vehicle
- Graphics can be planned to read cleanly across four doors
- Branding can be removed before the vehicle is sold or reassigned
- Individual doors or panels can be rewrapped after damage
- Original paint stays underneath
Things to consider
- Load bin interiors and floors are not wrapped
- Four door gaps mean more edges to finish and maintain
- Bush scratches and gravel strikes can still mark or tear film
- Textured flares and cladding generally cannot be wrapped
- Graphics crossing door gaps need cuts at each gap
Preparation and installation process
- Assessment and planning. We inspect the paint, canopy and accessories and, for graphics, plan how the design crosses each door gap.
- Cleaning. Gaps, sills, wheel arches and bin edges are cleaned thoroughly to remove dust before application.
- Accessory and trim removal. Where practical, handles, badges, lights and accessory mounts are removed or loosened.
- Doors, cab and bin. Film is applied to all four doors, the cab, roof and outer bin sides, lining up any graphics across gaps.
- Canopy, refit and checks. Any agreed canopy wrap is completed, everything is refitted, and edges and door gaps are checked.
What affects the price
- Overall size and number of panels on your double cab
- Finish or printed design chosen
- Whether a canopy, sports bar or hard tonneau cover is included
- Accessories such as roof racks, side steps and nudge bars
- Design work for graphics spanning four doors
- Paint condition and preparation
Every vehicle is different, so we quote each job individually. Your final quotation depends on the vehicle, the material, how much of the vehicle is covered, any artwork, and the condition of the paint once we have assessed it.
Turnaround
Timing depends on whether you choose a colour change or branding, how many accessories must be removed, whether the canopy is included and how much preparation the paint needs. We confirm timing with your quote once the double cab has been assessed.
Care and maintenance
- Wash off dust and mud after gravel or bush trips before it dries
- Avoid letting roof rack straps or loads rub against wrapped panels
- Hand wash with a soft mitt; avoid automatic brush washes
- Keep pressure washer jets away from the many door edges
- Inspect rear door edges regularly, as they take knocks from passengers
- Have lifted edges or tears repaired early
Frequently asked questions
Is wrapping a double cab very different from a single cab?
The basics are the same, but the extra doors add edges and gaps, and graphics must be planned across four doors. That affects material, time and design.
Can my sports bar be wrapped?
Smooth, painted sports bars can often be wrapped in a contrast finish. Chrome or textured bars need assessing first, and some are better left as they are.
Will a wrap stop my double cab getting scratched on bush tracks?
No. Vinyl gives only light protection from minor abrasion and can still be scratched or torn by branches. Damaged panels can be rewrapped individually.
Can you wrap my double cab with my company branding?
Yes. We can add logos and contact details on the original paint or as part of a printed wrap. Ask us about consistent layouts if you run more than one vehicle.
