Mall Signage

Shopfront fascias, window graphics, wayfinding and campaign graphics for mall retailers, fitted to centre management rules.

Mall signage covers everything that makes a store visible and easy to find inside a shopping centre: the shopfront fascia, window graphics, in-store and common-area wayfinding, and the promotional graphics that change with each campaign.

It suits retailers, restaurants and service businesses in shopping centres, as well as centre management teams that need consistent signage and campaign graphics across common areas.

About this service

Every shopping centre has its own design criteria for tenant signage. Fascia size, position, illumination, colours and materials are usually set out in the lease or the centre’s tenant design manual, and drawings must be approved by the landlord or centre management before anything is produced. We prepare visuals and drawings for that submission and adjust them until they are approved.

Most mall installations happen after trading hours, to keep shoppers safe and avoid disrupting other tenants. Centres normally require advance booking, contractor registration, proof of insurance and adherence to their safety rules, including the use of ladders or access equipment in public areas. Installation location and access are arranged per project with centre management, as this work is carried out in the centre rather than at our Rivonia workshop.

Fire and safety requirements also shape signage. Graphics must not cover or obscure fire exits, emergency signage, fire-fighting equipment, sprinkler heads, alarms or call points, and centres may specify materials with suitable fire performance for certain areas. Window graphics should leave the visibility the centre or your own security requires. We use vinyl from 3M and Avery Dennison where suitable, subject to material availability, and choose removable films for short-term campaigns.

Suitable vehicles and common uses

  • Retail stores needing a new or refreshed shopfront fascia
  • Restaurants and coffee shops with large glazed frontages
  • Pop-up stores and short-term tenants
  • Seasonal and sale campaigns on shop windows
  • Centre management for common-area wayfinding and campaigns
  • Kiosks, promotional stands and activation spaces
  • Service businesses such as banks, clinics and salons inside malls

Available options

  • Shopfront fascia graphics and lettering, subject to the centre’s design criteria
  • Full or partial window graphics, frosted or etched-look film and window lettering
  • One-way vision window film where the centre allows it
  • In-store and common-area wayfinding and directional signage
  • Removable campaign graphics for windows, walls, floors and columns, subject to material availability
  • Floor graphics with a suitable anti-slip laminate
  • Visuals and drawings prepared for landlord or centre management approval

Options depend on the material available at the time of your project and on your vehicle. We confirm exactly what is possible in your quotation.

Why choose it

  • A clear, approved shopfront that helps shoppers find you
  • Campaign graphics can change often without altering the shopfront
  • Removable films make it easier to hand back the unit or change campaigns
  • Consistent look across windows, fascia and in-store signage
  • After-hours installation keeps trading uninterrupted

Things to consider

  • Centre design criteria control size, position and materials, and approvals can change your design
  • Installation is often limited to after-hours slots booked in advance
  • Fire exits, emergency signage and safety equipment must stay unobstructed
  • Some glazing, coatings or surfaces are not suitable for every film
  • Illuminated or structural signs may involve other trades, such as electricians or sign manufacturers

Preparation and installation process

  1. Brief and centre requirements. You share your brand files, campaign plans and the centre’s tenant design criteria. We note any fire, safety and contractor rules.
  2. Site measure. We measure the fascia, glazing and any walls or columns, and check the surfaces and access for installation.
  3. Visuals and approval submission. Scaled visuals and drawings are prepared for your sign-off and then submitted to the landlord or centre management for approval.
  4. Production. Once approved, graphics are printed or cut on the agreed films, with removable materials for short-term campaigns.
  5. After-hours installation. Our team is booked in with centre management, follows the centre’s safety and access rules, and installs and cleans up before trading resumes.
  6. Check and handover. We check alignment and clearances around safety signage and equipment, and photograph the installation for your records.

What affects the price

  • Size and number of fascia, window and wall areas
  • Film type, such as printed, cut, frosted, one-way vision or floor-grade
  • Design work and the number of approval rounds with centre management
  • After-hours installation and any access equipment needed
  • Removal of existing graphics and cleaning of glazing
  • Frequency of campaign change-overs

Every vehicle is different, so we quote each job individually. Your final quotation depends on the vehicle, the material, how much of the vehicle is covered, any artwork, and the condition of the paint once we have assessed it.

Turnaround

Timing depends on how quickly the landlord or centre management approves the drawings, the availability of after-hours installation slots, the size of the shopfront and number of graphics, material availability, and whether existing signage must be removed first. Campaign dates are worked backwards from your launch. Timing is confirmed with the quote once the centre’s requirements are known.

Care and maintenance

  • Clean window graphics with a soft cloth and mild, non-ammonia glass cleaner
  • Avoid scrapers and abrasive pads on or near graphic edges
  • Ask cleaning staff to keep floor-scrubbing machines off floor graphic edges where possible
  • Report peeling or damaged campaign graphics promptly for replacement
  • Remove expired campaign graphics on time to avoid adhesive build-up on glass

Frequently asked questions

Do we need centre approval for window graphics?

Usually, yes. Most centres control window graphics as well as fascias, and some limit how much glazing may be covered. We prepare the visuals for submission so you can get approval before production.

Can you install while the mall is open?

Some small jobs may be allowed during trading hours, but most centres require after-hours installation. The centre sets the rules and we book slots in line with them.

Can window graphics cover our whole shopfront?

That depends on the centreu2019s rules, fire and safety requirements, and your own security and visibility needs. Fire exits and emergency signage must always stay clear.

Do you make illuminated or 3D signs?

Our work focuses on vinyl graphics, lettering and printed signage. Where an illuminated or structural sign is required, the electrical and fabrication work involves other specialist trades, and we can coordinate the graphic elements with them.

Is the installation work covered?

Our 5-year workmanship guarantee applies to installation workmanship only. It does not cover the film itself, damage, vandalism, cleaning damage or normal wear on campaign graphics.
