Wing mirror wraps cover the painted mirror caps on each side of your vehicle. Black or carbon fibre look mirrors are a small change that pairs well with a contrast roof, chrome delete or blacked-out trim.
They suit owners who want a subtle styling detail, people tying together a larger theme, and anyone with scuffed or faded mirror caps they would like to refresh visually.
About this service
Mirror caps are small but awkward. They are tightly curved, and many house indicator lenses, puddle lights, blind-spot sensors or surround-view cameras. We never cover lenses, cameras or sensors. Film is trimmed around them, and on some vehicles the cap can be unclipped so it can be wrapped off the car and the edges tucked behind.
Power-folding mirrors move against the mirror base every time you lock the vehicle. We check the gap between the cap and base so the film does not rub or catch when the mirror folds. The mirror glass itself, including any built-in blind-spot warning symbol, is not wrapped.
Mirrors stick out from the body and take knocks from passing traffic, gate posts and parking. A vinyl cap gives light protection against minor abrasion only. If you want impact protection on the mirrors, mirror paint protection film is the more suitable product.
Suitable vehicles and common uses
- Hatchbacks, sedans and SUVs wanting black or contrast mirrors
- Vehicles with indicator lenses or puddle lights in the mirror
- Vehicles with surround-view or blind-spot cameras in the mirror base
- Power-folding mirrors
- Owners completing a roof, chrome delete or spoiler theme
- Mirror caps with minor cosmetic scuffs (not cracks)
Available options
- Gloss black, satin black or matte black
- Carbon fibre look, subject to material availability
- Body colour or a contrast colour, subject to material availability
- Cap only, or cap and mirror base
- Wrapped on the vehicle or with caps removed, depending on the design
- Combined with mirror paint protection film for impact areas
Options depend on the material available at the time of your project and on your vehicle. We confirm exactly what is possible in your quotation.
Why choose it
- Small change with a visible effect
- Ties together other black or carbon fibre look details
- Covers minor scuffs on the caps visually
- Can be removed later, depending on the cap’s paint condition
- Minimal vehicle downtime compared with larger wraps
Things to consider
- Indicator lenses, cameras, sensors and mirror glass are never covered
- Tight curves can require a relief cut or seam on some mirror shapes
- Mirrors take knocks, and vinyl will not stop cracks or deep scratches
- Cracked or loose caps should be repaired or replaced before wrapping
- Not every mirror cap can be removed safely; some clips are fragile
Preparation and installation process
- Mirror check. We look at the cap shape, indicators, cameras, sensors and fold mechanism, and test whether the cap can be safely unclipped.
- Prepare. Caps are cleaned and degreased, and removed caps are handled so their clips are not stressed.
- Wrap. Film is stretched around the curves, trimmed neatly around lenses and cameras, and tucked behind edges where possible.
- Refit and test. Caps are refitted, mirrors are folded and unfolded, and indicators, puddle lights and cameras are checked.
What affects the price
- Mirror shape and size
- Number of lenses, cameras and sensors in the mirror
- Whether caps are removed or wrapped on the vehicle
- Film choice, such as carbon fibre look versus standard gloss
- Whether the mirror base is included
- Repairs needed to scuffed or loose caps
Every vehicle is different, so we quote each job individually. Your final quotation depends on the vehicle, the material, how much of the vehicle is covered, any artwork, and the condition of the paint once we have assessed it.
Turnaround
Mirror caps are usually a small job, but timing still depends on whether caps can be removed, how many components are built into the mirror and whether the job is combined with other work. We confirm timing with your quote, and it is often convenient to do mirrors alongside a roof or chrome delete.
Care and maintenance
- Fold mirrors in narrow parking spaces to reduce knocks
- Avoid pressure washing close to the cap edges
- Clean indicator lenses and cameras with a soft cloth
- Do not use ice scrapers or sharp tools on the caps
- Check the trailing edge for lifting after automated washes
Frequently asked questions
Will my mirror indicators still be visible?
Yes. Indicator lenses are never covered. We trim the film around them so they work and remain visible as before.
My mirrors fold automatically. Is that a problem?
No, but it needs planning. We check the gap between the cap and the mirror base and test the fold several times after wrapping so the film does not rub.
Can you wrap mirrors with cameras in them?
Yes. Cameras and sensors stay uncovered, and we check the camera image afterwards. The cut lines around them may be visible up close.
Will a wrap protect my mirrors from knocks?
Only from minor abrasion. Vinyl is not impact protection. For more resistance to scuffs and chips, ask about mirror paint protection film.
