Sports cars are shaped by airflow. Deep vents, sharp creases, splitters, diffusers, wings and low bumpers make them some of the most demanding vehicles to wrap, and the finish has to look right from every angle.
This page is for owners of sports cars, coupés and track-day cars who want a new colour, stripes or carbon fibre look details. All sports car wraps are done at our Rivonia workshop in Sandton.
About this service
Complex aero is the main challenge. Bonnet vents, side intakes and bumper openings create deep recesses that film can only be stretched into so far before it thins or loses colour. In those areas we may use inlays, relief cuts or leave the inside of a vent unwrapped. Wings, splitters and diffusers are often separate parts that can be wrapped individually, sometimes in a contrast finish.
Low ride height and tight wheel arches mean bumpers and sills are close to the road and pick up grit. Engine heat around rear vents, exhausts and engine covers on mid- and rear-engine cars also needs consideration, because film near heat sources can discolour or lift. We plan coverage to avoid the hottest areas.
Vinyl changes the look and gives some light protection against minor abrasion and UV. It is not designed to stop stone chips, which are common on low front ends; paint protection film is the separate product for that. Results depend on paint condition, the film chosen, installation and care.

Options depend on the material available at the time of your project and on your vehicle. We confirm exactly what is possible in your quotation.
Why choose it
- Change colour or add stripes without repainting a valuable car
- Aero parts can be highlighted with contrast finishes
- Stripes and livery can be changed or removed later
- Individual panels can be rewrapped after damage
- Original paint stays underneath
Things to consider
- Deep vents and intakes may need inlays or be left unwrapped inside
- Areas close to engine or exhaust heat may not be suitable for film
- Low front ends pick up stone chips that vinyl is not designed to absorb
- Complex shapes add installation time compared with an everyday car
Preparation and installation process
- Shape and heat review. We go over the car’s vents, aero parts and heat sources with you and agree coverage and any inlay areas.
- Preparation. The car is washed and decontaminated, with vents, splitters and arches cleaned thoroughly.
- Aero parts and trim. Where practical, wings, splitters, badges and lights are removed so they can be wrapped separately or worked behind.
- Application. Film is laid with controlled stretch over curves and into recesses, using inlays where stretching would thin the colour.
- Refit and inspection. Aero parts and trim are refitted, and every edge, vent and seam is checked in good light before handover.
What affects the price
- Body complexity and number of vents and aero parts
- Finish selected, with chrome and specialist films costing more
- Full wrap, stripes or accents only
- Amount of disassembly practical on your car
- Design work for printed livery
- Paint condition and preparation
Every vehicle is different, so we quote each job individually. Your final quotation depends on the vehicle, the material, how much of the vehicle is covered, any artwork, and the condition of the paint once we have assessed it.
Turnaround
Timing depends on the car’s shape and number of vents and aero parts, the finish, how much can be safely removed and any paint preparation needed. We confirm timing with your quote once we have assessed the car.
Care and maintenance
- Hand wash only; keep sponges out of sharp vent edges
- Avoid aiming pressure washer jets into vents and at seams
- Let the car cool before washing areas near the engine or exhaust
- Clean off insect residue from the front end promptly
- Use finish-appropriate products, especially on matte and satin
- Have the front end checked periodically for chips and lifted edges
Frequently asked questions
Can you wrap inside the vents on my bonnet?
Sometimes. Deep vents may need an inlay or may be left unwrapped inside to avoid overstretched film. We show you how we plan to finish each vent before we start.
Will heat from the engine damage the wrap?
Areas very close to engine or exhaust heat can cause film to discolour or lift. We plan coverage around those areas and advise where film is not suitable.
Can I add racing stripes to my factory paint?
Yes. Stripes can be applied on the original paint without wrapping the whole car, and removed later if you change your mind.
Will a wrap stop chips on my low front bumper?
No. Vinyl is not designed to absorb stone chips. Paint protection film is the product intended for that and can be combined with a wrap.
