Luxury vehicles come with more technology and finer finishes than most cars: parking and driver-assistance sensors, cameras, illuminated badges and door handles, soft-close doors and paint that may be more delicate than it looks.
This page is for owners of luxury sedans, coupés and SUVs who want a new colour, a different finish or subtle detailing, and who want the work planned carefully. Luxury vehicles are wrapped at our Rivonia workshop in Sandton.
About this service
Wrapping a luxury vehicle is about access and care as much as film. Many modern luxury cars have radar and ultrasonic sensors in bumpers and grilles, cameras in mirrors and badges, and lighting in door handles and trim. Film must not cover or interfere with these, so we identify each one before work starts and trim around it or leave it uncovered. Some trim is held by delicate clips, and we will only remove parts where it is practical and safe to do so.
Paint condition matters a lot. Some factory paints are soft or have thin clear coat on edges, and many luxury vehicles have had panels resprayed or touched up after minor damage. Resprayed paint can lift when film is later removed, so we check the paint before quoting and tell you about any risk we see.
A vinyl wrap changes colour or finish and gives some light protection from minor abrasion and UV. It does not absorb stone chips; paint protection film is the separate product for that. Results depend on the paint, the film chosen, installation and care.
Suitable vehicles and common uses
- Luxury sedans and executive saloons
- Luxury SUVs with complex bumpers and sensors
- Coupés and convertibles with soft-close or frameless doors
- Vehicles with illuminated badges or ambient trim
- Owners wanting a subtle satin or matte finish
- Owners wanting chrome delete without changing the body colour
Available options
- Full colour change in gloss, satin, matte or metallic, subject to material availability
- Chrome delete on window surrounds, grilles and trim
- Contrast roof or mirror caps
- Carbon fibre look accents on splitters, mirrors or trim
- Paint protection film on the front end or full body, as a separate product
- Door shuts wrapped by arrangement
Options depend on the material available at the time of your project and on your vehicle. We confirm exactly what is possible in your quotation.
Why choose it
- Change the colour or finish without altering the factory paint
- Chrome delete can modernise the look while leaving the body colour untouched
- Can be reversed later if you want to return to the original look
- Sensors and cameras are identified and kept clear during planning
- Panels can be rewrapped individually if damaged
Things to consider
- Some sensors, cameras and lit trim limit where film can go
- Not all trim can be safely removed; some edges will be trimmed in place
- Resprayed or touched-up panels carry a higher risk of paint lifting on removal
- Paint flaws and stone chips will show through the film
Preparation and installation process
- Detailed inspection. We inspect the paint on every panel and note sensors, cameras, lit trim and resprayed areas before quoting.
- Agree coverage. We agree what will be wrapped, what will be removed and what will stay in place, so there are no surprises.
- Gentle preparation. The vehicle is washed and decontaminated with products suitable for its paint and trim.
- Careful disassembly. Only parts that can be removed practically and safely are taken off; the rest are wrapped around in place.
- Application and sensor check. Film is applied and post-heated, then we check that sensors, cameras, lights and doors work as before.
What affects the price
- Vehicle size and body complexity
- Number of sensors, cameras and lit components to work around
- Finish selected and film type
- How much trim can be removed
- Whether door shuts are included
- Paint condition and preparation required
Every vehicle is different, so we quote each job individually. Your final quotation depends on the vehicle, the material, how much of the vehicle is covered, any artwork, and the condition of the paint once we have assessed it.
Turnaround
Timing for a luxury vehicle depends on body complexity, how many sensors and trim components are involved, the finish and how much preparation the paint needs. We confirm timing with your quote after a detailed inspection.
Care and maintenance
- Hand wash only with a pH-neutral shampoo
- Do not aim pressure washer jets at sensors, cameras or film edges
- Avoid automatic brush washes
- Use only cleaners and protection products suitable for the finish
- Store under cover where possible
- Ask us to inspect the wrap if you notice lifting near lights or sensors
Frequently asked questions
Will a wrap affect my parking sensors or radar?
We identify sensors before work starts and leave them uncovered or trim around them as required. We check that they work after installation.
Is a wrap safe on my caru2019s paint?
On healthy factory paint, well-applied quality film usually removes cleanly. Resprayed, touched-up or damaged paint can lift. We check the paint first and tell you about any risk we see.
Can you remove the chrome trim instead of wrapping the whole car?
Chrome delete wraps the trim in black or another finish while the body colour stays the same. It is a popular option on luxury vehicles.
Should I choose a wrap or paint protection film?
They do different jobs. A wrap changes colour or finish; paint protection film is clear or matte and designed to absorb stone chips. Some owners combine both.
