Aston Martin’s Vantage, DB12 and DBX combine long bonnets, flowing lines and a large, distinctive grille. These are grand tourers built to cover long distances quickly, which means plenty of highway stone chips. Owners usually ask us about protecting the paint or changing to a satin finish that shows off the car’s curves.
Car Colour Wraps is an independent workshop in Rivonia, Sandton, and is not affiliated with or approved by Aston Martin. We use 3M and Avery Dennison vinyl films for wraps, and clear paint protection film for impact-prone areas.
Grand tourer proportions and bodywork
Long bonnets and large front panels look elegant but take a lot of stone chips. On some models the bonnet is a large clamshell-style panel that extends over the front wings, which allows long, uninterrupted film coverage but needs careful handling. The big grille, side strakes and slim lights are planned individually, and sensors and cameras in the front and rear bumpers are left uncovered.

Paint protection film for an Aston Martin
Clear paint protection film is a thick urethane film designed to absorb stone chips and light scuffs without changing the colour. A front-end package covers the bumper, bonnet, wings and mirrors, while full-vehicle PPF covers every painted panel. Results depend on the paint’s condition, so we inspect it and discuss any resprayed panels or existing chips before installation.
Satin colour changes
A satin finish suits Aston Martin’s sculpted lines, softening reflections while keeping the shape clear. Satin greys, dark greens and deep blues are common choices, subject to material availability. We show you physical samples in daylight, and we plan seams around the grille, door handles and rear diffuser before work starts. Satin film needs different care from gloss: no polish or wax, and prompt cleaning of bird droppings and tree sap.
The DBX and practical points
The DBX brings Aston Martin styling to an SUV, with a raised roofline, roof spoiler, roof rails and a wide range of driver-assistance sensors. A contrast roof or satin colour change suits it, and PPF on the front end and lower doors suits owners who use it on gravel roads.
Tell your insurer about any wrap, and check with your licensing authority whether a full colour change needs to be recorded. Our 5-year workmanship guarantee covers our installation workmanship, not the life of the film or colour.
